Reiki as part of Self-Care

Reiki is a gentle complementary healing practice that originated in Japan. The word Reiki is often translated as “universal life energy.” It is based on the belief that energy flows through and around the body and that supporting a sense of balance and relaxation may contribute to overall wellbeing.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above different areas of the body. The client usually remains fully clothed and may lie down or sit comfortably. There is no massage, pressure, or manipulation of the muscles. Many people describe the experience as peaceful, calming, or deeply relaxing, although individual experiences vary.

Reiki is often used as part of a personal self-care and wellness routine. A session can provide an opportunity to pause, rest, and focus on the connection between the mind, body, and emotions. Some people choose Reiki to support relaxation, stress management, emotional balance, and a general sense of wellbeing.

Reiki should be viewed as a complementary practice and is not a replacement for medical diagnosis, treatment, or professional healthcare. Whether you are seeking quiet time, relaxation, or a new approach to wellbeing, Reiki offers a gentle space to slow down, recharge, and reconnect with yourself.
